Homestay students are regularly monitored and are supplied with their own room and three meals per day. Provision for change is available.

Students who are not living in a school administered homestay may live with:

  1. Designated Caregiver
This is a 'bona fide' relative or close family friend designated in writing by the parents of an international student as the caregiver and accommodation provider for that student. If Northcote College had any concerns regarding the welfare of a student who was living with a designated caregiver, the school may refer for further action or refer the matter to the relevant child welfare authorities, or any appropriate agency in New Zealand and may relocate the student to an approved school homestay.

  2. Parent
This means the father or mother of an international student and includes a court appointed guardian or a person who meets the requirements of the New Zealand Immigration Service guardian visa/permit.

Parents can not leave New Zealand without giving Northcote College adequate notice of the alternative arrangements for the care of their son/daughter. If these provisions do not meet with the school's approval, Northcote College may make the appropriate arrangements for the student. The student's parents will need to meet the cost of these arrangements. Students living with parents must still be monitored by the school. Please note that no international student may drive a car while enrolled at Northcote College regardless of their accommodation arrangement.
