The courses students select are crucial to their future so it is important that careful thought is given to their future direction. The further students go in the senior school, the more difficult it becomes to change that direction. That is why the best advice is to keep as broad a range of subjects for as long as possible. For each subject chosen, students need to think carefully about where it will lead, and whether it fits in with their intended career or study path.
Students will have an opportunity to discuss their option choices with the Dean or Careers Advisor on request.
Pathways Day is an annual event at Northcote College designed to assist students selecting their academic subject options and planning their pathway through college and beyond.
All students in years 9 – 12 are timetabled through Pathways during the school day. Students are issued with their option forms during period 1 with the form teacher to assist them to partially complete the form.
The evening session 6.00pm – 8.30pm for parents and students to attend is a wonderful opportunity to speak with subject specialists and tertiary providers. The tertiary representatives are able to provide information and assistance with selecting courses.
