National Poetry Day 2012
Poetry readings were held during lunchtime on Friday 27th July to recognise National Poetry Day.
At an informal gathering in the library, pupils and teachers recited poems that evoked nostalgia, inspiration or cultural meaning for them.
Ms Henshall read a Chilean poem in Spanish; a love story with beautiful flow and rhythm. Ms Russell shared a poem that she had learned and recited when she was at school. Mr Laureano read a Portuguese poem and Mr McLellan shared a favourite of his from Scotland with truly Scottish vernacular.
Josie Keys read Ozymandius, a Sonnet written in 1818 by Percy Shelley. Hazel Meikle-Downing recited from Alice in Wonderland and Sid Dymond and Shelby Haarhoff both read their own original poems.
