The waka crew arrived at Mangareva on Monday 29th October and have stayed for a few days before the last part of their journey to Rapanui.
The crew are enjoying the island hospitality; playing soccer with the locals and exploring the island. They will have visited the local schools and church and performed the haka many times before they leave for Easter Island.
The first leg of the trip was the most challenging with rough sea conditions and bitter cold. The crew had to ration provisions and wear survival suits much of the voyage.
Their first landfall was at Tupuai and the journey from Tupuai to Mangareva was comparatively easy.
You can view the route they've travelled on the Waka Tracker.
