NCEA involves a significant internal assessment component and it is important that you are familiar with the school policy relating to these assessments.
The information provided in the Assessment Calendar is correct at time of printing (3/3/16).
In most subjects the internal examination slots (weeks) will also be used to practise the final external Achievement Standards assessed through national exams in November.
In some subjects e.g. ESOL, standards can be assessed without formal scheduling and are unlikely to be assessed until the teacher considers the students are ready. Refer to the course outline of the subject area for a guideline on when assessment is likely.
In some subjects e.g. PCO, multiple assessment events can involve different groups of students.
In some cases reassessment opportunities are available in the school holidays by arrangement. Refer to the individual subject outline for details.
Assessments are spread throughout each term and attendance in class is important if students are to achieve well.
