It’s one thing to speak the basics of a second language … and it’s quite something else to be fluent enough to have in-depth debates on a range of topics.
But that’s exactly what Jess Cordes, Jack Lawton, and Rose Herda did at the National Spanish Language Debating Championships last week.
And they weren't just good: They proved themselves the best in New Zealand – taking out the top title at the championships!
The team started strongly, knocking out Kings College in the preliminary rounds. In the semi-finals they brought the house down in their win against Auckland Grammar School. And they talked up another storm in the finals against Kristin to take away the title of National Champions.
