Important Dates March and April

Tēnā koutou katoa

It has been a busy and productive start to the year. To help you plan for the rest of the term and the start of next term, I need to share some important dates when the school will be closed.

PPTA Strike Action: 16 March - school closed
The Post Primary Teachers’ Association (PPTA) has advised the Northcote College Board of Trustees that teachers will be taking strike action on Thursday 16 March. Most, if not all, secondary schools in the country will be closed on this day. The strike will affect all Northcote College students with the exception of Year 13 students who are on camp at Whangaparāoa. In this instance, a dispensation has been made, for the safety of students, to allow those teachers at camp to continue without striking.

Flexible Learning Day: 24 March - no timetabled classes
As per the year calendar, there is a Flexible Learning Day on Friday 24 March when timetabled classes will not run. Teachers will be available to students between 9am and 10am and again between 2.30pm and 3.30pm. The rest of the time teachers will be engaged in professional learning activities. Students who choose to attend school may work independently in the school library.

Ministry of Education Teacher only Day: 26 April - school closed
All schools have been provided with an Accord Day for NCEA planning. Northcote College has scheduled our day for Wednesday 26 April, so Term 2 begins for students on Thursday 27 April.

Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support of the school.

Please do not hesitate to be in touch if you have any questions. Contact your child’s dean in the first instance.
