cross country 2020

Cross country thrillers!

The cross country races held this week were thrillers! After several postponements in these challenging times, keen competitors took to the field and did us proud.

The junior races were held at lunchtime on Wednesday, and the intermediate and senior events at lunchtime on Thursday.

In the Junior Girls race, Nikki Gear (10DOR) edged out Agnes Stephens (9WL) after a titanic struggle. Nikki was delighted to win after finishing runner up last year. Third place went to Charlie Shepherd (9BEL).

Toby Caro (9BEL) was an impressive winner of the Junior Boys ahead of Josh Wells (10DOW) who improved his 2019 time by over a minute. Krish Nair (9BEL) was close behind in third place.

Well done to Niki Manoa who represented the staff in fine style.

The Intermediate and Senior Cross Country races were run the following day - and all four races were won in emphatic style and excellent times.

Perry Willimott (13HOL) showed he is fast on his feet as well as on bike wheels winning the Senior Boys for the second year in a row.

Abby Dromgool (13MM) went one better in 2020, winning the Senior Girls after finishing runner up in 2019.

Myara Flint (10DOW) was an impressive winner of the Intermediate Girls. Her time of 8 minutes and 12 second was the fastest in any of the 3 girls races.

Her classmate Shivam Nair (10DOW) was a convincing winner of the Intermediate Boys. Very impressive for a Year 10 who is already a key player in both the Football and Cricket 1st XI teams.

Well done to Emma Grimwood had an excellent run with the Senior Girls, ensuring the staff were represented.
