End of Term 4 newsletter
Tēnā koe
As we approach the end of the school year, there are some important messages. Please take note of the key dates for the rest of the year at the end of this email. There is also a link to the 2026 dates and year planner.
Te Tiriti o Waitangi
You will be aware of the Education and Training Amendment Act 2025. At the meeting on Monday night, the Northcote College Board confirmed its ongoing commitment to giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
Our school's position remains clear and unwavering. We will continue to uphold the intent and principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. This is articulated in our strategic plan. Honouring Te Tiriti is central to our governance, our curriculum, our partnerships, and our engagement with whānau. Our focus remains firmly on success for all.
Tawhiti rawa i tō tatou haerenga atu te kore haere tonu. | We have come too far to not go further; we have done too much not to do more.

Recent events
The Year 9 camps this term on Motutapu Island were wonderful; students impressed with their full participation, resilience and enjoyment of the range of activities. The Year 13 Leavers’ Event was similarly successful and was a celebration of all that has been accomplished and shared during students’ time at Northcote College.
We are very proud of the way senior students sat their NZQA examinations. Results are released mid-January for students to view online. Written results may be requested through Learner Login.
Equipment and text book returns
Please look everywhere at home for any library books, text books, school equipment, and sports gear to return to school before the end of the year.
Uniform and stationery 2026
The 2026 uniform guidelines and stationery lists are on our school website: https://www.northcote.school.
Please note there is a new long skirt option which will be in stock at Yarnton’s from early March.
Course Confirmation: 29 and 30 January 2026
Course confirmation is a process where senior subjects and timetables are finalised. Not all students need to attend course confirmation, only students who have not met prerequisites or have a timetable clash. Students in Years 11-13 are encouraged to check their school emails from 20 January for notification that they are required to attend.
First school day for 2026
Prefects and peer support leaders attend school on Monday 2 February. The day begins with a pōwhiri for new students and their whānau at 9am.
Students in Years 10-13 start school on Tuesday 3 February at 9.30am.
Homestay families needed in 2026
We are looking for caring homestay families to accommodate our wonderful international students. We have options available for one term, two terms or long term students. Northcote College hosts international students from Asia, South America and Europe. This is a great opportunity to experience another culture. We offer a homestay fee of $420 per week.
For further information please contact our Homestay Coordinator Manny Mauricio at homestay@northcote.school.nz
Thank you for your ongoing support of our school. We encourage you to stay in contact; if you have any queries, please contact your child’s Dean in the first instance.
We wish you a safe and happy summer break, and we look forward to seeing all again in 2026. To those leaving Northcote College, all the very best; stay in touch.
