Junior Mathematics

Junior Mathematics continues the development of mathematical skills in line with Phase 4 of the NZ Curriculum. Our students will become confident in day-to-day Mathematics, and expand their understanding of abstract concepts, supported by digital technologies such as CODAP. Major topics covered are:

• Number an Algebra
• Measurement and Geometry
• Statistics and Probability

Keen students will have the opportunity to further extend their thinking in the University of Otago Mathematics Competition, Computational and Algorithmic Thinking Competition, and Australian Mathematics Competition.

Eight students from each of Years 9 and 10 will represent the school at the annual Auckland Mathex competition.
