Road works on Onewa Road start Thursday 13 November

Tēnā koe

Today we received confirmation from construction company Fulton Hogan that their road works on Onewa Road will commence this Thursday 13 November at night. Please plan ahead with transport to get to school on time, particularly students sitting morning NZQA examinations. Where possible, we discourage people from driving down Onewa Road and encourage them to walk instead.

The key points from Fulton Hogan:

  • Work commences this coming Thursday night 13 November. Some work will take place during the day. However, the majority will take place at night.
  • Some work is weather dependent.
  • Onewa Road will be reduced to three lanes of traffic between the church and the college for the duration of the work.
  • There will be two lanes of traffic citybound during the morning peak and one lane towards Birkenhead. This will change for the evening peak where there will be two lanes of traffic towards Birkenhead and one lane citybound. Traffic flows will be closely monitored.
  • Footpaths will remain open during the day. There is a possibility we may have to close some of the footpaths at night and in this scenario, pedestrians will be directed by traffic controllers.
  • Bus stops immediately adjacent to where we are working will be closed and you will need to walk to the closest bus stop.
  • Given the traffic lane direction changes during the day, we are implementing a left turn in and left turn out only to/from driveways and side roads on Onewa Road between the church and the college.
