Underwater Hockey World Championships

Former student, Julian Debruyne is in the NZ U19 Underwater Hockey team competing against the world's best in Hungary.

Julian Debruyne (Year 13 2011) is in the NZ U19 Mens Team competing in the Underwater Hockey World Championships in Eger, Hungary. The team has beaten Australia 13-2 in the final Round Robin game and are at the top of the table qualifying automatically for the semi-finals.

Their semi-final game will be streamed live on line at 8.30pm Friday 30 August (NZ time) on Julian is the one with #13 on the arms and legs and the green-yellow thin fins.

On the way to Europe, the team had 2 days training at the sport academy in Singapore with a fledgling team there.

During the tournament so far, Julian has been on a roll; scoring 4 of the goals against the Netherlands and the first 2 goals against the stronger Great Britain and another against Australia in the last game.
