Great results at North Island Volleyball Championships
It’s been an amazing week for our volleyball teams at the North Island Volleyball Championships.
The teams performed exceptionally well all week at the champs, held at North Shore Events Centre and Netball North Harbour. Our Senior Boys came away with 5th place overall and the Senior Girls took 13th place.
The boys’ final game against Rototuna was an intense and very close battle for 5th and 6th – and had everyone on their toes. We lost the first set and spirits were low coming into the second set but they were able to make an incredible comeback with some ace serves and spikes to win the set and make them go to Set 3.
The sideline support was growing, even from other schools, and every point we won there was a loud cheer from our sideline and the team yelling "Aaaaaaoooo Cotes!" their new chant.
It came down to our final point, Rototuna were catching us but Luke Joyes won us the game with the perfect serve just inside the cour,t catching Rototuna off guard. Everyone went wild – and other schools ran onto our court to join us in celebrations. It was an amazing atmosphere, and the boys were stoked!
