Double bronze at KBB Music Festival!
A huge round of applause to both the Northcote College Jazz Band AND the Concert Band, who both received Bronze awards at the 2026 KBB Music Festival – a wonderful result for both bands!
The week-long festival, now in its 43rd year, featured more than 5000 students in 166 groups from secondary schools around Auckland.
Under the wonderful direction of conductor Robert Dil, they delivered an unforgettable performance featuring:
- Highlights from How To Train Your Dragon by John Powell (arr. Johnnie Vinson)
- Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne et al (arr. Paul Murtha)
- Where the Tui Sings—a special piece composed by our very own former international student, Shunsuke Yoshioka.
Led by the brilliant Will Ralph, our Jazz Band delivered a high-energy set:
- Pyramid Power by Doug Beach et al.
- Count Basie’s legendary classic Jumpin’ at the Woodside (arr. Rich deRosa)
- The crowd-favorite Mission: Impossible Theme by Lalo Schifrin (arr. Roger Holmes)
We are so proud of all our student musicians for their dedication, hard work, and incredible energy on stage. Bravo, team!
