Recovering from the floods
Just when we thought school in 2023 was going to be ‘back to normal’, Auckland was hit with a flooding disaster which has disrupted the lives of thousands of Aucklanders, and delayed the start of our school year by a week.
Over the past two weeks, mainstream and social media were full of dramatic photos, videos, and reports of the flooding. Thousands of families across Auckland – including within our own school and wider community – face dealing with the direct effects of damaged homes and properties. Even for those not facing long-term effects from the flooding, natural disasters can still be very unsettling.
