Sports prizegiving celebrates success

Congratulations to all the recipients at today’s 2020 Northcote College Sports Prizegiving.

Despite a year disrupted by Covid 19, Northcote College students again excelled in a wide range of sporting endeavours, and we were delighted to be able to celebrated their achievements.

Special congratulations to Tom Escott, named 2020 Victor Ludorum (Sportsman of the Year) and to Tara Beale and Maddie McAsey, named joint 2020 Victrix Ludorum (Sportswomen of the Year).

Victrix Ludorum (Sportswoman of the Year)

Awarded jointly to Tara Beale & Maddie McAsey

Maddie McAsey 

Maddie is a New Zealand Stand Up Paddleboard Representative. At the National Championships in February she came 1st in U19 Sprint Event and 2nd overall in the U19s and came 3rd in the Open Women’s Surf Race. 

Maddie won the McCurran Cup for the Most Outstanding Player in the unbeaten Northcote College 2nd XI Girls Football Team.

Tara Beale

Tara is a New Zealand Judo Representative

New Zealand Rankings:
1st Cadet Women’s (U17)
1st Junior Women (U20)
1st in U63kg Weight Category

World Rankings:
Top 20 Cadet Women
Top 25 Junior Women

No competitions this year due to COVID-19. Tara will compete in National Championships in November.

Victor Ludorum (Sportsman of the Year) 

Tom Escott

North Harbour U17 Cricket Captain for the 2019-2020 season and has now been selected for the North Harbour U19 Cricket Team for the 2020-2021 season.

Is the current captain of the Northcote College 1st XI Cricket Team and is receiving the awards at the 2020 Sports Prizegiving for the Best Batsman, Best Bowler and Best All-rounder.

Auckland U19 Cricket Representative.

Northcote College 1st XI Boys Hockey Team in 2020. A regular in the starting XI and top goal scorer.
