Inspiring Anzac remembrance

Northcote College student Perry Willimott was among many students who stood at their gate at dawn on Anzac Day to honour our fallen – donning his formal prefect’s uniform and playing The Last Post, followed by a minute’s silence, then playing Reveille.

Neighbour Sarah Gibbs said: ‘Perry’s remembrance was well attended the appreciated by the street. He then went and played outside several local rest homes, where residents may not have been mobile enough to get to their letterboxes.

‘Perry’s initiative, thoughtfulness and respectful response to Anzac Day under lockdown – the first ever where people have been unable to attend a public ceremony – was wonderful. I know I’m proud to have him in our street. He is a great role model for how to respond positively to suboptimal circumstances.’
