Creative minds tackle town centre challenge

Around 60 Northcote Design & Visual Communications students, with their amazing teacher Trudy Seakins, recently visited the Northcote Town Centre transformation – where they worked with Auckland Council’s Urban Development Office.

They’ll be using the town centre as a setting for their assignments, from creating new street furniture - with top concepts set to be developed for real life future use (!) – to designing a hanging light that will be showcased in the central elm tree later this year.

This kind of real world, hands on experience is an incredible opportunity for students, and it’s inspiring to see our young talent thinking about the future of their own neighbourhood.
