MUNA - Model United Nations Assembly

Last weekend, our combined Year 12 and 13 teams very successfully participated in the MUNA – Model United Nations Assembly – conference held at Rosmini College. Team One, led by Allan Thomas, represented the country of Algeria while Team Two, led by Payasvi Sharma, represented Norway. 

Both teams spoke to Remit 1: That this Assembly supports a mandatory quota system requiring all member states to accept a fair share of refugees based on economic capacity. 

Team One also spoke to Remit 4: That this Assembly calls on the United Nations to strengthen and enforce international laws guaranteeing freedom of navigation in international waters, including increased monitoring and consequences for violations.

Team Two's second remit was #3. That this Assembly supports automatic United Nations sanctions on any nation found guilty of severe human rights violations.

The Assembly was a terrific success: Both our teams spoke with confidence and flair, and were a huge credit to the school.
