Silver medals for football boys 13s!

Our Boys Football 13th Grade Knockout Cup Team made history on 5 September – winning silver medals when they played Saint Kentigern College in the 13th Grade Final at Seddon Field, home of the  Western Springs Football Club.

No Northcote College Boys Football team has ever reached this stage of the competition. The team, coached by Connor Westbury and Te Hira Templeton, and captained by Liam Bain (10KKM) is a mixture of Year 9 and Year 10 students.

After a bright start where Northcote hit the crossbar, Saint Kentigern struck with 2 quick goals from long balls into the box, and dominated until halftime when the score was 3-0 in their favour.

Northcote showed great fight and scored two quick goals to start the second half, with Tommy Whittaker (10MAC) and Theo Davis (9MRO) hitting the back of the net. The game had turned into an epic contest, but Saint Kentigern weathered the storm and grabbed the all-important next goal. Two late goals from Saint Kentigern turned the final score into a harsh 6-2. Right until the end the Northcote boys played with great energy, skill and commitment and showed themselves to be most worth finalists.

Milo Wibowo (9LVS) was a constant threat, especially with his superb dribbling, Luon Jeong (9SAV) worked tirelessly in the midfield, and Freddie Cawkwell (9SAV) was strong and calm in the heart of the defence.

The future of Northcote College Football is very bright.
