Supporting Tonga in sartorial style

Northcote College students and staff were stylish in red & white and in Pacific-themed outfits at this week's non-uniform day to raise money for Tongan disaster relief. The day was arranged to lend support to those affected by last month's eruption and tsunami.

We’ve donated a total of $4,458 to the disaster relief fund.

We raised $2,654 from non-uniform day donations – and added another $1,804 which students had raised for a community project they were going to lead in a village in Borneo: a trip which was not able to go ahead because of Covid. It seemed fitting for the money to instead be donated to disaster relief in Tonga – where many of our students and wider community members have close connections.

Note: Students or staff shown without masks were either eating or drinking outdoors, or taking part in sports - in line with Covid protocols.
